Green Table #1 - Blue Vase

Green Table is a tile mural design with an image that includes my wife's green leather-top table and an imaginary vase and flowers. I envisioned the vase to hint at a connection between the beauty of a vase and the beauty of a female form with a necklace and loving hands expressing connection of a loving partner.

This mural tile set of 20 six inch square tiles is too large and heavy to be mounted with a frame. The tiles could be glued to a wall or floor with mastic and grout applied between the tiles or the tiles could be attached to a wall using Command Brand picture hanging strips. 

The tiles are made out of porcelain that has been fired to 2200 degrees F so they are strong enough to be installed on a floor and waterproof enough that they could be installed out of doors.

In the photos presently shown, the first image shows the array of 20 - 6 inch square tiles (6.05 - 6.10 inches cut by hand) separated by 1/16 inch corner spacers. This spacing or greater should be used for permanent  installation to give space for grout between the tiles.

The set measures approximately 24" wide by 30" tall overall if mounted on a wall using 3M Command strips. The set would be a bit larger if it is permanently installed on a wall or floor with mastic and grout is applied between tiles. I think that a 1/8" (or slightly wider) grout line would look good. Professional installation is suggested because grouting of this type of tile will take patience. The tiles are made and cut by hand (with a pizza cutter) so there is a small variation in the dimensions of each tile (see the main photo). 

The tiles are about 0.325" thick at the thicker (higher) areas. A glossy clear glaze has been applied to the surface of each tile.
