  • This is a front view of a mural of 12 handmade tiles showing a path through an aspen grove where the tiles are separated by 2". This spacing is too large to be installed and grouted on a wall. Instead, it is suggested that the tiles be mounted to any wall using 3M picture mounting strips. I like the effect of this large separation where my mind sees the tiles individually to appreciate the detail and texture of each tile and my mind also assembles the images into the aspen grove.

I like this area in the woods near my Colorado home. The grasses and wildflowers grow thick under this aspen grove. There is a path that is rarely used that goes into this area and then to the pine forest beyond. This spot has such a peaceful and inviting feeling.

My intention, when applying color, more towards black and white, to this set was to get the subtle, light colors of the aspen leaves and tree trunks. The grass on the trail has not yet been trampled by people. The deer don't seem to leave a trace except where they have scratched the tree trunks in past years as they rubbed their antlers to remove velvet and mark their territory with their scent. 

This mural set is about 18" wide and 24" tall, depending on gaps between tiles. the 12 tiles weigh about 13 lbs. 

Please see the Mounting Methods Note in the hamburger menu at the top left of the home page  for suggestions on semi-permanent attachment to wall surfaces or for suggestions on permanent attachment and grouting for wall and floor surfaces. 

I have added a photo below showing gaps of 2" and In some of the photos of Aspen Path #1, I have shown that set with separation gaps between tiles of 0, 1/8", 1/4", 1/2", 1", 1-1/2". I like the effect of wider gaps. If the tiles were mounted with Command Strips on a wall, the wall color would be visible between the tiles. 

The expense of shipping by USPS priority mail to anywhere within the USA is included in the cost of this set listed below. I do not presently ship tiles outside of the USA.
