Lineman #1 - Blue Sky

The subject of this Lineman image is based on my observation that most current figure art is based on women being wonderful and beautiful yet there are only a few art pieces depicting men. In this case, I have made an image of a man who is serving his community by maintaining a part of a local power distribution system. Lineman work is physical labor that is often performed in harsh weather conditions. 

The coloring treatment of this mural set is simple black outlines with very light blue sky. I left some texture in the clay that comes through as dark areas of the sky.

The tile is made of glazed porcelain that has been fired to 2200 degrees F so is waterproof and can be permanently mounted in moist locations such as kitchen backsplash areas, shower or bath areas or anywhere that 2D art is mounted.

The tile dimensions are 12" x 12" by about 5/16" thick. The 4 tiles weigh a total of about 3-1/2 lbs.

I suggest that this tile be removably mounted using 3M's Picture Hanging Strips. These strips avoid damage to walls and wall paint when they are removed yet can easily support the weight of this tile if properly installed.
